Upcoming Outings

For over 70 years the IRRS has held hundreds of outings to locations of railway interest, both in Ireland and abroad. The nature of outings and activities have evolved with the developments of Irish railways. Examples include visits to Irish railway engineering facilities (exclusive to IRRS members) and diesel hauled excursion trains to unusual locations. Forthcoming Society outings are detailed below.

Friday 19th July 2019

Outing to ESB Ardnacrusha Power Station, Co. Limerick

An outing has been arranged to visit the ESB power station at Ardnacrusha, Co. Limerick on Friday 19th July 2019, once home to an extensive narrow gauge railway system (see ESB Archives). The group will travel to and from Limerick by service train; via Nenagh on the outward journey and Limerick Junction on the return. Lunch (optional) will be available at the George Hotel, Limerick. A coach will be available to take Members to and from Limerick Station and Ardnacrusha Power Station. Please note there are approximately 100 steps to climb during the tour of the power station.
